WOMEN’S RIGHTS
Bodily Autonomy: Women’s Rights Are Human Rights
Your body is your sovereignty—not the state’s property. I’ll fight laws treating women as incubators instead of full citizens.
⚖️ 1. History’s Injustice: When Women Were Legal Property
Coverture Laws erased married women’s legal personhood. Wives couldn’t own property, control earnings, or refuse sex. Their bodies served husbands’ interests.
Rape as a "Property Crime" punished violations against fathers/husbands—not women. Your autonomy meant nothing.
Legacy Today: Anti-abortion laws echo coverture, prioritizing control over consent.
➡️ Conservative Rebuttal: "Abortion bans protect life!"
✅ FACT: If "life" mattered, conservatives would fund prenatal care. Instead, they cut Medicaid and maternal programs while criminalizing miscarriage.
✊ 2. Bodily Autonomy Is a Human Right
Philosophical Foundation: No person—born or unborn—has the right to use another’s body without consent (Judith Jarvis Thomson’s violinist experiment).
Global Standards: The WHO and U.N. affirm abortion access as essential healthcare. Denying it is gender-based violence.
U.S. Hypocrisy: Organ donation is always voluntary—even postmortem. Forcing pregnancy treats women as second-class.
➡️ Conservative Rebuttal: "Fetuses have rights!"
✅ FACT: No right supersedes bodily sovereignty. You can’t force a parent to donate a kidney to their dying child—why force pregnancy?
🚨 3. Modern Authoritarianism: The War on Women
Forced Birth as Punishment: Lawmakers admit bans aim to "force women to be responsible" (code for controlling sexuality).
State Surveillance: Georgia investigates miscarriages; Alabama jails rape victims for abortions.
Global Harm: Gutting USAID caused 70,000+ preventable maternal deaths—exposing "pro-life" lies.
➡️ Conservative Rebuttal: "States should decide!"
✅ FACT: My body isn’t up for vote. Slavery and segregation were "state rights" issues too.
✨ Our Plan: Freedom Over Control
Pass the Equal Rights Amendment to constitutionally guarantee bodily autonomy.
Decriminalize Abortion Nationwide (follow Canada’s healthcare model).
Restore Global Leadership: Fund UNFPA and strike Hyde Amendment restrictions.
Expand Midwifery/Doula Access: Put birth choices back in women’s hands.
Stand with me to end the era of state-owned bodies.
